Question on Exchange 2007 Client and Hub roles
Nov 7 2007, 7:56 PM EST I was reading through the Dell document on Exchange 2007 features and I read something that caught my eye. TheClientAccess role is required in the sameActiveDirectory (AD) sitewhere aMailboxroleisdeployed.TheHubTransportroleandClientAccessrolesarerequiredonevery AD sitewithin the organization. The last line in particular. Does that mean, if I have 5 seperate sites, I need a Exchange 2007 server running the hub and client roles in those sites? Im in San Diego and have sites near Las Vegas and Los Angeles...I need to put a server in those locations? Just looking for some clarification. THanks. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Question on Exchange 2007 Client and Hub roles
Nov 8 2007, 12:00 PM EST There has been some confusion about locating exchange servers at each AD site. To clarify: - You do not need Exchange 2007 mailbox server role at each AD site. You can decide to have one, but it is not mandatory. - You do need Hub Transport and Client Access server roles on each site where you have a Mailbox server role. In you case lets say you have 5 separate AD sites, but decide to have Exchange Mailbox servers in only 2 of those sites. You will need the Hub and CAS roles in only the 2 sites where the mailbox servers reside. Additionally, you can use the same physical server to consolidate the Mailbox, Hub and CAS roles on each of the sites. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Question on Exchange 2007 Client and Hub roles
Nov 8 2007, 1:09 PM EST Ok. That helps. I currently have a couple of very large projects on my plan. Active Directory Migration, planning for Exchange 2007. Its a ton of fun though. Designing the Exchange 2007 roles is cool. I also am really looking into the storage piece for Exchange 2007. I find that fascinating. Irish Guy Do you find this valuable? |
