I am looking for best practices regarding setting up volumes for VMs running on Hyper-V R2/Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V clusters. In the old days I was running 1 VM per volume. I would snapshot the volumes and replicate them. If I needed to recover a VM, I could just revert the volume to an earlier version. If I wanted to clone a VM, I could clone the volume or mount a snapshot. Pretty easy.
Now I am runnung VMs in a 4 node Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 cluster. Each host has 2 NICs connecting to my iSCSI SAN. I have two members in my storage group. Each volume takes up (two nics per host * two group members * 4 nodes) 16 connections to the storage pool. EqualLogic has a hard limit of 512 connections to a pool, so with my current configuration I can have only 32 fully clustered volumes. Adding member arrays actually reduces the number of volumes I can have.
Fortunately, Microsoft released Cluster Shared Volumes, so I have consolidated most of my virtual machines to a single large volume. CSV makes some things easier, like making sure everything gets snapshotted and replicated, but I can't just clone a single VM, and I shudder to think about trying to restore a single VM. It will probably take an hour or so just to mount up a snapshot of all of my VMs and then copy a 20-30 GB VHD file from a temporary volume back to the main volume. How do other people manage their VMs and volumes in a cluster? I have 45 running VMs and 83 volumes in use.

Hello I am running SCCM 2007 R2 on a DELL 2850. when I try to install the DDP I get the wizard was interrupted before ddr could be completely installed.

PowerEdge M1000e: my client is installing this blade center and we are configuring CMC. However as a default gateway we got 2 switches in HSRP. Is this supported? my tests indicate it is not but I would like to see if there is any documentation stating so... thank you!

I recently replaced a scsi card on my pe2850 connected to pv124t from perc controller to scsi card 39160 ultra 160 scsi. After this change the back up exec would not recognize the tape drive and giving me this error “physical volume library robot not found” I did the device configuration wizard then restarted all services and still have the same error. The device manager sees the new ultra 160 card with no problem. Any suggestion out there?

So device manager sees the drive and medium changer?
only backup exec does not. you may need to run the diver pack again (tapeinst.exe)

Has anyone had any luck using the SM-CLP "set" verb on an iDRAC6 (Firmware v 1.30) to set the IP Address, Subnet Mask etc. for the DRAC?
The documentation at:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smdrac3/idrac/idrac10mono/en/ug/html/racugc1e.htm#wp46449
implies that this should be possible.
Whilst other verbs seem to work OK e.g.
show -d properties=IPv4Address system1/sp1/ipendpt1
returns the IPv4 address OK. However trying to:
set system1/sp1/ipendpt1 IPv4Address=192.168.nn.nn
Gives a command syntax error and doing a
show -d verbs system1/sp1/ipendpt1
does not list "set" as a supported verb.
Looks to me like "set" is not supported despite what the docs claim or am I using the wrong target?

It's probably also worth pointing out that it's still possible to get into racadm from the '/admin1->' SM-CLP prompt.
This doesn't appear to be mentioned anywhere but works on my R410s,
# ssh root@192.168.0.120
/admin1-> racadm help serveraction

I have DELL Bluetooth Wireless Headphone and want to connect with my DELL Latitude E6400. So I switch on Bluetooth of Laptop and Headphone. Then search for Buletooth devices. In search NOT able to see Buluetooth headphone.

We are experiencing problem with write performance on MD3000i over iSCSI from VMWare
2 SATA disks in raid 0 with write perf about 30MB/s
2 SAS disks in raid 0 with perf about 70MB/s
MD3000i firmware is the newest one ( 07.35.31.60 )
No disk firmwares available
Switch , VMWare and MD3000i set to use jumbo frames
With other types of raid write perfs are even worse
Read performance is around 110MB/s which is excelent but the writes ......
Are this numbers ok ?

We need to replicate shared folders with doc/excel/pdf kind of data on file servers which we want to replicate from branch offices to centralize head office location over 128 kbps lease lines so that centrally we can schedule backups.
we have total 4 branches with 128 kbps point to point lease lines from HO to branchofifces. data size in each locations are approx 50 gb with approx. 500 Mb updates everyday in each locations.

I have a server model PowerEdge SC1420 and i am trying to install Dell OpenMange I cannot find anything but
Server Administrator 5.4 on dell's website, which does not install on my server since its not supported(according to the installation window)
I have another server that have OpenManage 6.1 software preinstalled onit, i cannot find any links to download 6.1
Where can i get teh proper software.
