Job Description: Senior Consultant – Evangelist

As a member of the Enterprise Technology Center staff and Global Commercial Marketing (GCM), your job will be to build Dell’s commercial (business to business) technical community. Members of this community include customers, partners, and Dell Sales, Marketing, and Engineering groups. In addition to connecting with these community members online at www.DellTechCenter.com, you will also utilize traditional in-person events several times a year which will involve presenting on technical topics.

We’re looking for a thought leader with expert level technical knowledge in data center optimization, virtualization and consolidation infrastructure technology areas who can:
  • Transform the TechCenter with their knowledge and passion for social networking
  • Work with the teams, TechCenter, Dell Product Group, and GCM counterparts to identify and build out subject areas in the community
  • Expose decision making information obtained from hands-on evaluation of Dell solutions in the TechCenter lab to customers who are designing or evaluating Dell infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide editorial leadership for their areas of the community while ensuring community health and member satisfaction
  • Provide insights and keep the teams abreast of trends in the larger technical community
  • Publish multiple formal whitepapers each year
  • Maintain contact, build relationships, and solicit involvement with others in the technical community


Qualifications


The ideal candidate will be a curious, self starter with proven leadership in the field including white papers, conference keynotes, major early adoption deployments, patents, etc. who’s knowledgeable and active in online communities. He or she will have superb writing skills – able to delineate concise and structured thoughts for total solutions as well as simplifying the resulting systems architecture.

These skills could be demonstrated with 10 plus years of field Systems Engineering, performance analysis, benchmarking, delivering proof of concepts, and/or systems integration in these disciplines. Highly desired areas of focus with extensive hands-on experience would include virtualization technologies (VMWare, Xen, Virtual Server, Hyper-V), virtualization industry strategies, Windows Servers, Linux, systems management software, programming (C#/Java), scripting (Windows/Linux), databases, fibre channel storage, and x86 based servers. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience would be typical.
