Hi,
Referencing the Dell SQL Server Reference Architecture whitepaper above. I just installed a SQL Server box (Dell 2950 with 8 internal 2.5 inch 146k 10k SAS drives) with the following Raid Partitions: Disk 0 (Drives 1&2) - OS and tempdb - Raid 0 Disk 1(Drives 3&4) - Logs - Raid 1 Disk 2(Drives 5 to 8) - Database - Raid 10 Do I need to use Diskpart on any of the drives and if so which ones. The command for diskpart is: Create partition primary align=1024 What number should I use for align? I want to know where to get the info for the following formula: ((Partition offset) * (Disk sector size)) / (Stripe unit size) What Partition offset should I use. Also when formatting the drives with NTFS what Allocation unit size should I use. Thanks Bunti

Has anyone worked with SQL 2008 Filestream yet? We're working on a web-based filestream project where we'd use Poweredge servers and a PowerVault MD3000i. Once the MD3000i was full we'd start adding more. Thanks.

Is it possible to script (or atleast dictate) a unique path for log files when installing a SQL instance?
I have a customer that is asking. He is able to manually change the directory path for log files after installing, but he's looking to automate the install process. Any ideas? Brian
