Recently we published the Dell™ PowerVault™ MD1200 Performance as a Network File System (NFS) Backend Storage Solution whitepaper online. This whitepaper builds a standards based HPC storage architecture over NFS and describes the performance characteristics of the PV MD1200 arrays when used with NFS in an HPC environment. We study some of the performance tunings and their impact on the performance. A wide spectrum of benchmark results (including random I/O, sequential single and multi file throughput, metadata performance) are included in order to give the reader a comprehensive picture on the performance that the solution provides.
