I was creating an 64 Bit MDT Boot image and added the WinPE 64 Bit drivers to the Boot image. The Boot image generation failed for the following drivers:
* DELL CERC SATA 1.5/6ch RAID Controller * DELL CERC SATA 1.5/6ch RAID Management Device * DELL PERC 5/E Adapter RAID Controller * DELL PERC RAID Virtual Device * Dell PERC S100 S300 Controller [storport] * Dell SAS 5/E Adapter * ATI AHCI Compatible RAID Controller * Broadcom HT1000 SATA Controller(AMD64 Release) The creation of the Boot image was successful after removal of the above drivers. In the description it states that these are Vista Drivers. Is it possible these are not compatible with Windows7 PE? Regards, Bas Steelooper |

Hi, in the blog in http://www.delltechcenter.com/page/12-08-09+Dell+Driver+Pack+for+OS+Deployment+with+ConfigMgr, it mentions that the drivers can be extracted into a folder from the cab file and then applied during a task sequence without importing them. So do I just create a standard package that contains the extracted files and then use a "Apply Driver Package" step which references this standard package ?

| blods | SCCM OSD Fails when disks set to AHCI and using Windows source | 0 | Aug 4 2010, 7:57 PM EDT by blods | ||

Unless the laptops have their disks set to ATA mode, I can't use these CAB files in a driver package to an SCCM deployment that uses Windows 7 source files (Windows error unable to load the boot-critical Intel AHCI driver). I've tried versions 8.9.4.1004, 9.5.7.1002 and 9.6.0.1014 and all with no lock (the lowest version is the one in the above PE Cab file, the middle version the one in the CAB files for the laptop models 6410, 6510, 4310 and M4500, and the higher one the one from the Dell pages if you search for specific models.
If you use a WIM file to install the OS in the task sequence then it works OK.
Do you find this valuable?
